PROOF-OF-WORK RETURNS TO THE EVM

ECASH

ETHEREUM CASH

Ethereum Cash (ECASH) is an EVM sidechain secured by Drivechain blind merged mining (BIP 300 · 301) — real Bitcoin-style hashpower behind every block, zero validators.

What is Ethereum Cash (ECASH)?

Ethereum Cash (ECASH) is a planned Ethereum-compatible (EVM) sidechain of Skydoge. It is a drivechain: the coins on the sidechain are held by the Skydoge main chain in a BIP300 hashrate-escrow peg (pegged, not wrapped), and every ECASH block is sealed by BIP301 blind merged mining, so Skydoge miners’ proof of work secures the EVM instead of a validator set or staking. Planned EVM chainId: 133777.

Layer two and layer three

In the Skydoge stack, ECASH is a layer-two sidechain of the Skydoge L1. A layer-three ECASH chain stacked on it with a nested peg (L3 → L2) is on the drawing board. The ecosystem topology view on this page shows the L1, the sidechains pegged to it and the planned ECASH L2 and L3.

Bitcoin sidechains, BIP300 and BIP301

BIP300 (hashrate escrows) and BIP301 (blind merged mining) are the two drivechain proposals written for Bitcoin sidechains. Skydoge, a Bitcoin-derived proof-of-work chain, carries that drivechain in its main chain, which is what lets an EVM sidechain like ECASH exist without its own validators.

Status and naming

ECASH has not launched; this page is a countdown and nothing on it is an offer or a sale. On this site “ECASH” means Ethereum Cash, the EVM sidechain described above; it is not related to other projects that use the name eCash.
